For some dubious marketing reason, only the S-Line package of the Audi A4 includes nice chrome rings around the fog lights. Here is how to proceed if you want to put some – a little patience is required ;-) But before starting, you may want to check some photos of my Audi before putting the Chrome Rings on : Audi Quattro Pictures.

First you need to order Audi A5 chrome rings. Part numbers are 8T0-853-101 and 8T0-853-102. They were delivered in 3 days and cost me 6000 yens in Japan. Then you need to modify the rings to fit your A4: because there are no slots for the clips on the trim cover of the A4, carefully cut them off on the backside of the ring. Once the rings are ready, I recommend you to remove the trim cover of the fog lights.

Gently pull the trim while holding firmly at point C. If it does not come out – it did not for me – you will have to unlock the retaining hooks with a screwdriver. They are located at points A and B and can also be seen on the two pictures below. With one finger at point D, try to pull the trim while unlocking hook A, and then B.

This is how your A4 should look like once the trims are removed:

With some black sealant or adhesive, fix the chrome rings on the trim cover. Since the rings do not fit perfectly, it takes a bit of time to adjust them so as to minimise possible gaps, which you’ll have to fill with some black sealant afterwards. I used a wet sponge with diluted black paint to even the sealant. Here are my trim covers with the chrome rings:

Let them dry for a while and put them back on… et voilà ! Much better – time and money well spent I think :-)

Hi, Just carried out this mod & it looks great. I used black silicone sealant to fix the rings, a little messy but it did the trick in the end. Have you thought of fitting the chrome strips to your grill?

I used a wet sponge with diluted black paint to even the sealant (now added that tip to the post). The chrome strips for the grill are not for me ;-)
