Japanese Cityscape

Japanese City

Quite a typical view in a Japanese city : messy at first sight, but clean and organised once you pay attention to details.

Japanese urbanism is such a mystery to me… I will always remember my first two hours in Japan, on that bus, on the highway right in the heart of Kobe… First, there was the fact that a highway could be in the heart of the city, and then around me nice looking apartments next to factories next to shopping malls next to less than nice looking apartments in no particular order no logic whatsoever…

  2. Rames says:

Japanese urbanism is really strange, but beautiful

  3. Jeffrey says:

I will never reconcile myself to the abundance of above ground power lines in Japan – worse than it is even in the U.S.

And as David mentioned, the lack of coherent zoning seems to be an insurmountable problem for Japanese officials.
