If you’re in Tokyo this weekend, do not miss the Mitama Matsuri at the Yasukuni Shrine. Great place to enjoy good food and take nice pictures. All my pictures for the previous year on Image Japan. I recommend you bringing a 50mm and a wide angle lens.
Introduction : while detailed technical analyses of a lens are useful to objectively assess its performance, most reviews unfortunately focus on that aspect only. Lenses are meant to take photos, and photos to be looked at, not measured. So, having owned and now owning a few Canon Lenses, I thought it would be interesting to […]
Great place not too far from Hiroshima. Their grilled chicken is just amazing. It’s a restaurant for mountain bandits, but I’m sure Loeildutako can take you there :)
Being unreasonable once more behind the wheel ;-)
Love those run down places full of old but still working arcade games :)
Was supposed to snow today but it did not so here is some snow from last year !
Another great spot in the Nikko National Parc.
On a fast boat, cruising the bay :)
The Garden is located on the highest hill in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Providing a place for 60,000 orchid plants – consisting of 400 species and more than 2,000 hybrids – is the three hectares of carefully landscaped slopes. The design concept presenting the display of plants in four separate color zones: the “spring” zone […]
Haji lane is in the Kampong Glam neighbourhood of Singapore, in the heart of the Muslim quarter and offers small fashionable shops and arab cuisine. Beware though : finding a taxi might be very difficult in the evening. Took us almost one hour to find one who would accept taking us back to our hotel. […]
Nice view, poor service, oddly mixed crowd (tourists, traders & hookers)… Definitely worth ONE visit ;-)
Without the shadow of a doubt, the best zoo I have ever seen : Singapore Zoo, the world’s best Rainforest zoo ! Being able to display animals in their natural habitats certainly helps :)
Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa in Singapore : great recluse from the city buzz, ideal for families, too bad the view is constantly riddled with container ships.
Real Indian curry in Bangalore. Challenging to eat with your hands but delicious ! Ok, last post on Bangalore, back to Japan for my next posts :)
A few shots taken during a Rickshaw ride in the streets of Bangalore. Having lived and driven in China for 3 years, I had thought that I could easily cope with the traffic in India. But I was so wrong ! The mess is of a totally different magnitude.
Dodda Basavana Gudi (the Bull Temple) is situated in the N.R. Colony, Basavanagudi, area of South Bangalore, part of the largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. The Hindu temple is inside the a park called Bugle Rock. The bull referred to is a sacred Hindu demi-god, known as Nandi; Nandi is a close […]
Bangalore Palace, a palace located in Bangalore, India, was built by Rev. Garrett, who was the first Principal of the Central High School in Bangalore, now known as Central College. The construction of the palace was started in 1862 and completed in 1944. In 1884, it was bought by the Maharaja of Mysore. Now owned […]
While visiting the Bangalore Palace I had the pleasure to witness an Indian Wedding. Very friendly people as I was offered food and even had the privilege to say hello to the couple !
Just realised that I did not post any of my Bangalore pictures yet ! Stay tuned…
If you never had a chance, try it : delicious !
Now reaching year 2010 of my picture cleaning process and found this shot I like a lot of a breakfast in a (the?) Japanese Onsen : Ginzan Onsen Fujiya.

While sorting my photos (have now done 2/3), I realised that it has been a while since I had a chance to go to a motor show in Tokyo. Pity, these shots always bring me a lot of visitors ! I wonder why… ;-)
A rather well designed sign to designate a smoking area in Tokyo.
The epitome of good taste ! Shot somewhere in Kagurazaka.
Used to be served a few steps away from home. Sadly the restaurant has disappeared and I miss my spicy Korean noodles very much !
Men of my age in Japan do not seem interested in taking photos of cherry blossoms. It’s either old Japanese men, or young Japanese Ladies and that’s usually reflected in the ads we see for cameras here in Japan…
Ueno is a famous spot for Hanami in Tokyo. Not only because the cherry blossoms are beautiful but also because, unlike in parks, alcohol consumption is allowed, offering a joyful atmosphere and an entertaining sight. You might even meet some friendly inebriated Japanese salary-men who will start talking to you in English and offer you […]
A beautiful day for a late afternoon stroll with my 70-200mm lens : taking nice photos of cherry blossoms is not as easy as it sounds so I hope those are not too dull :)
Somewhere in Kagurazaka, Tokyo : simple and beautiful, very japanese !
