Last strips of snow covering Fujisan are going away, soon it will be ready for climbing.
Once a year, at the Fuji Shibazakura Matsuri (富士芝桜まつり ), you can enjoy a marvellous sight : Mt. Fuji with hundreds of thousands of flowers blooming. All pictures available on my other website dedicated to travels in Japan – image-japan – along with a video and the coordinates.
Back from Kamakura, on our way for a warm dip in an onsen, a short stop on the seaside of Kanagawa to greet Fujisan on this 1st of January 2013 :) Without any visual reference, it’s hard to realise how massive Fujisan is, so I added the 2nd shot.
Beautiful sunset over Fujisan on this Christmas Day !
Nice Sunday in Kawaguchiko :-)
Fantastic view when climbing Mt. Fuji (Fujisan). You can see all photos over there with a nice slideshow.
Ideal spot for a relaxing day off away from Tokyo – only 120km away, around 90 min drive provided that there’s no traffic. On a side note, such a clear view of the Fujisan is extraordinary !
Splendid view from my office today.
Fujisan from Hakone. For once, no clouds, no wind !
Windy weather: nice to get rid of the traditional clouds and haze around Fujisan, bad for the waves on the lake.
Over there in the distance !

When climbing Fujisan you should indeed follow the route and on the route, watch your step, especially because you’ll be doing half of it at night!
In Japan, there is a saying : there are two kinds of fool, the ones who never climbed Fujisan, and the ones who did it twice :-)
