On a fast boat, cruising the bay :)
Back from Kamakura, on our way for a warm dip in an onsen, a short stop on the seaside of Kanagawa to greet Fujisan on this 1st of January 2013 :) Without any visual reference, it’s hard to realise how massive Fujisan is, so I added the 2nd shot.
Because the majority of voters wanted some meta deta overlay but because a minority expressed the rather strong view that it should be non-intrusive, I did a bit of research and found a way to satisfy both camps. The trick was to use the Display EXIF plugin in combination with the original picture from Flickr ...
Not the most distinguished of waiting postures, but quite a popular one in Asia.
Wonderful evening at the Benesse House in Naoshima. A new gallery for each on Image-Japan :)
The Redoutable (S 611) was the lead ship of her class of ballistic missile submarine in the French Marine Nationale. Commissioned on 1 December 1971, she was the first French SNLE (Sous-marin Nucléaire Lanceur d’Engins, “Device-Launching Nuclear Submarine”). She was fitted with 16 M1 ballistic missiles, delivering 450 kt at 2000 kilometres. In 1974, she ...
This long, rocky and barren promontory surrounded by reefs, is the most impressive cape of the wild Hague coast in Normandy. Its most impressive aspects can be admired from the Nez de Voidries, which commands a view north of Écalgrain, the lighthouse off Cap de La Hague, and the Channel Islands. Further south, the Nez ...
Back from 8 wonderful days in Vietnam with around ~950 photos to sort… In the meantime, here is one of a beautiful sunset in Mui Ne ! More to come… :)
Second gallery of the weekend : Ferry Ride from Niigata to Otaru and the first few hours in Hokkaido around Otaru, on our way to Niseko.
Relaxing time by the ocean at Jogashima Island Park, south of Tokyo.
Nice harbour near Bayeux in Normandy, quite often very windy, like on that day! Nothing quite like the 16-35mm/f2.8 to take nice landscape pictures like those, what do you think ? :-)
50mn ride from Takamatsu to Naoshima. Not the most popular of ferry route to reach Naoshima as you can see: only a few passengers and only one car: ours! As it is often the case with fashionable destination, most passengers were actually women. Same in fancy restaurants in Tokyo: mostly women. Where do Japanese men ...
Back at Tukuihama Beach (or maybe it’s Miurakaigan beach) for Sunday. In order to beat traffic and find a decent parking place, we left Tokyo around 6:30 in the morning! Had fun on the beach for a bit more than 2 hours – long enough to get my back cooked lobster style – and plenty ...
Nice beach in the Miura Peninsula, about 90km away from Tokyo. Both the beach and the water were clean, no strong current and mild waves. Ideal for a family sunday :)
First morning without rain during our stay in Shikoku so I took the car right after breakfast and went for a morning stroll in the neighbouring port of Kannoura.
Natchan Rera is a 112 metre Wave Piercing Catamaran linking Hakodate to Aomori. I recommend first class tickets on the upper deck or economoy tickets on the lower one. Business class tickets will bring you at the back of the boat in a dull looking cabin and without side windows.
Very calm sea of Japan in Hokkaido
