RAN2 meeting 74 in Barcelona, Spain.
Exhausted 3GPP delegate sleeping on his keyboard during a RAN2 meeting in Barcelona !
Sign at the hotel (Princess Sofia) where our 3GPP RAN2 meeting is located : Dear Guest, please remember to watch your belongings at all time. Yes, Barcelona is full of thieves, so beware !
A good salad and fish for today’s lunch in Barcelona !
Notes left by an Ericsson delegate on a table in the RAN2 meeting room :D
With no regrets whatsoever. I’m sure it’s a good place for holidays… but it’s a terrible place for a standardisation meeting :(
TGIT (thank god it’s Thursday): last evening session of the week, time for celebration!
First good food of the week here in Madrid. What would we do without the Chinese ? ;-) Don’t get me wrong, I know there’s good Spanish food. Only, there’s none of it around the hotel…
Due to popular request to bring a proof, here is a photo of the air hostesses sharing our breakfast tables every morning here in Madrid. Apologies for poor quality snapshot but I didn’t want to look too much like a pervert ;-)
Chaired by truly yours – RAN2#71 in Madrid, Spain.

Hotel Auditorium Madrid, shame on you for serving such an horrible salad. This was by far the worst salad I’ve had in years, and charging 11€ for it is a disgrace. None of the ingredients bared any resemblance to the real thing. Gathering so much crap on a single plate is so remarkable that it ...
A low point in my standardisation career ;-)
So we decided to avoid the over-priced buffet and headed for the lobby bar. Iberian ham sandwich with tomatoes for me and club sandwiches for others. Edit: my colleague said that my photos make the food look much better than it actually was.
Meeting room for the week in Madrid (around 200 delegates in here). Hard to recover from jetlag without any windows. Also, the only alternative for lunch in this next-to-airport-hotel, seems to be the hotel buffet. Not only it’s expensive (25€), but if the quality is on par with what what served for breakfast, it’s going ...
That was the starter and the wine was included for only 8€!
And happy to leave!
